Human Resources Coordinator – Recruitment & Onboarding

About the role

Black & McDonald is expanding its HR team in Alberta and seeks a proactive Human Resources Coordinator to lead recruitment and onboarding for trades employees. The role blends talent acquisition, employee relations, and HR operations to ensure a smooth, positive experience for new hires and existing staff.

Key responsibilities

• Own full‑cycle recruitment for trades roles, from job posting to interview coordination and reference checks.
• Manage high‑volume seasonal onboarding, including drug testing, orientations, training enrollment, and documentation.
• Coordinate benefits and pension enrollment for new hires and address related inquiries.
• Support front‑line supervisors on employee‑relations matters and escalate complex issues.
• Administer regional rewards and recognition programs and assist with performance reviews and engagement surveys.
• Facilitate off‑boarding processes and prepare HR documentation such as payroll forms and employment letters.
• Plan and attend career fairs, applying creative sourcing techniques to attract diverse talent.
