HSE Advisor

About the role

The HSE Advisor will support marine operations in Kitimat by implementing health, safety and environmental policies, conducting inspections, and fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Implement marine‑specific HSE policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of vessels, equipment and facilities.
• Provide safety training and emergency response instruction to marine personnel.
• Investigate incidents, analyse root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare documentation for regulatory agencies and classification societies.
• Monitor environmental performance and support waste‑management and pollution‑prevention initiatives.
• Produce reports and presentations on HSE performance for internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain records of safety‑related incidents and track corrective actions.
• Advise the HSE Manager on project execution issues, potential claims and disputes.

Required profile

• Education in administration, business or marine studies preferred.
• Experience managing full projects from scope to completion.
• Valid WHMIS and Health & Safety Awareness certificates preferred.
• Professional marine safety certification (Designated Person Ashore) preferred.
• Previous marine operations experience with a focus on HSE management.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
