Senior Fire Protection Technician

About the role

Community Fire Prevention Ltd, a division of Onyx‑Fire, is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Technician to lead inspections, maintenance, repairs and service calls on fire and life‑safety equipment. You will work on‑site across British Columbia, mentor junior technicians and contribute to a fast‑paced, growth‑focused team.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct monthly, quarterly, semi‑annual and annual fire inspections in line with the 2018 BC Fire Code and applicable CAN/ULC, NFPA and CSA standards.
• Repair, troubleshoot and verify fire and life‑safety equipment, ensuring compliance with codes and manufacturer requirements.
• Complete electronic inspection, verification and deficiency reports accurately and on time.
• Participate in the after‑hours on‑call rotation and maintain communication with clients and internal teams.
• Mentor and coach junior fire protection technicians.
• Maintain certification with ASTTBC and/or CFAA and stay current with industry standards.

• Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

Required skills

• ASTTBC RFPT or CFAA certification.
• FX‑4000 training.
• Valid BC driver’s licence (driver’s abstract required).
• Solid background in electrical, electronics and mechanical systems.
• Ability to assess and troubleshoot a variety of life‑safety systems.
