Security Engineer, Detection & Response

About the role

The Security Team at Sentry protects customers, code, and infrastructure. As a Security Engineer you will work across detection, response, and corporate security, building systems that detect malicious activity and implementing controls to prevent future incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, improve, and own detection engineering systems, including a custom detection stack and automated triage.
• Perform investigations and contribute to security incident response for a variety of incident types.
• Develop, maintain, and operate identity and access management (IAM) solutions.
• Research emerging threats and adapt defenses for Sentry’s cloud and agentic product environments.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally to design preventative controls, automation, and high‑signal alerting.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience in detection & response, corporate security, or generalist security engineering.
• Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Comfortable programming in Python and using agentic development workflows.
• Experience with distributed cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative problem‑solving approach.

• Phishing response and user access reviews.
• Endpoint detection and response tooling.
• Python programming.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, Azure.
• Container orchestration: Kubernetes, Docker.
• Infrastructure as code: Terraform.
• Defensive security tools: EDR, SIEM, CNAPP, ZTNA.
