HR Generalist (Canada)

About the role

The HR Generalist provides comprehensive human‑resources support across the employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance with Quebec and Canadian employment legislation. The role partners closely with managers and staff to deliver effective HR programs in employee relations, talent management, performance, compensation, benefits and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to management and employees on HR policies, workplace issues and investigations.
• Support resolution of employee‑relations matters, including performance, attendance, accommodations and investigations.
• Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new hires and support talent‑development initiatives such as performance reviews and coaching.
• Ensure compliance with Quebec labour standards, pay‑equity requirements, employment contracts, statutory holidays, leaves and termination processes.
• Maintain accurate employment records in line with privacy and record‑keeping rules.
• Update HR policies, procedures and employee communications to reflect Quebec requirements.
• Contribute to HR projects focused on employee experience, engagement and organizational effectiveness.
• Prepare HR reports and metrics for leadership as needed.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills, sound judgement and ability to work in a bilingual environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of progressive HR experience within Quebec.
• Deep knowledge of Quebec employment legislation and HR best practices.
• Experience across multiple HR disciplines (employee relations, recruitment, compliance, operations).
• Fluency in French and English, written and spoken, in accordance with Bill 101.
• High level of discretion and professionalism handling confidential information.
