General Duty Nurse – Thoracic/Vascular Surgery (N2)

About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide professional nursing care to patients in the Thoracic/Vascular/PCU‑S unit of the Health Sciences Centre. This part‑time role supports patients with complex and unpredictable health needs, delivering independent nursing interventions, medication administration, and coordinated discharge planning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional registered nursing services to patients with complex and unpredictable health needs.
• Administer prescribed medical treatments and perform independent nursing interventions.
• Lead and coordinate the healthcare team to ensure safe patient care and effective discharge planning.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to unit policies, procedures and provincial legislation.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program.
• Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
• Ability to complete an Electrocardiogram (ECG) Monitoring & Rhythm Analysis course within 12 months of hire.
• Ability to complete a Progressive Care Unit course within 18 months of hire.
• CPR certification in accordance with employer policy.
• Preference for candidates with surgical experience and knowledge of Indigenous languages or customs.
