French and Physical Education Teacher

About the role

Sunrise Waldorf School is seeking a dynamic educator to join its faculty for the 2026–2027 school year. The role combines French language instruction with Physical and Health Education (PHE) for grades 1‑8, and includes coordination of extracurricular athletics within a supportive Waldorf community.

Key responsibilities

• Teach French language classes for Grades 1–8 using songs, stories, games, movement, conversation, and cultural activities.
• Deliver Physical and Health Education lessons for upper elementary and middle grades, aligning with the BC curriculum and Waldorf principles.
• Organise and support extracurricular sports and athletic programs.
• Collaborate with class teachers, support staff, and administration to promote student growth and wellbeing.
• Participate in school festivals, events, performances, and community activities.
• Maintain clear communication with parents and caregivers, and complete assessment and reporting duties.

Required profile

• BC Teaching Certificate or eligibility to teach in an independent school setting.
• Bachelor of Education or equivalent training.
• Experience teaching French and/or Physical and Health Education.
• Commitment to Waldorf educational philosophy and to diversity, equity, inclusion, and reconciliation.

Required skills

• Fluency in oral and written French.
