Fire Alarm Monitoring Technician

About the role

We are looking to fill a full‑time Fire Alarm Monitoring Technician position at our Port Coquitlam branch. The role involves installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining fire alarm systems while delivering high‑quality service to clients.

Key responsibilities

• Perform fire alarm monitoring installations, including wiring, programming, and mounting equipment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair installation issues and attend service call‑outs as needed.
• Train clients and ensure proper functionality of all systems.
• Establish new security systems or update existing ones to meet industry standards.
• Execute work in accordance with provincial and local regulations and company health‑and‑safety policies.
• Provide daily reporting and maintain professional client relationships.
• Follow department guidelines and metrics to achieve strategic goals.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years experience planning, installing, and troubleshooting fire monitoring systems.
• Experience pulling and fishing cable, terminating cable ends, and using test equipment such as a multimeter and tone generator.
• Knowledge of current CAN/ULC‑S561 standards for fire signal systems.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends, operate scissor and boom lifts, lift up to 50 lb, and stand for entire shifts.
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (clean abstract) and forklift licence; security licence is an asset.
