Data Product Analyst / Data Analyst (Remote, Canada)

About the role

The Government of Alberta is looking for a Data Product Analyst / Data Analyst to join the Digital Regulatory Assurance System (DRAS) program. You will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and analytics‑ready datasets on Microsoft Azure, helping modernise legacy reporting systems across ministries.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Develop and maintain ingestion, transformation, and integration workflows, including ServiceNow, API, and geospatial data sources.
• Manage Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 environments and build data models, semantic layers, and analytics‑ready datasets.
• Write ETL/ELT processes in Python and SQL, and expose secure APIs via Azure API Management.
• Implement data governance, metadata management, and lineage tracking while ensuring FOIP, privacy, and security compliance.
• Monitor, optimise, and document pipelines for performance and reliability, leveraging AI‑assisted coding tools.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, IT, Data or a related field.
• 3+ years experience with Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, and cluster management.
• 3+ years designing analytics‑ready platforms (Power BI, Synapse, data marts, semantic layers).
• 2+ years in data governance, metadata management and security within Databricks.
• 4+ years using Git/GitHub for version control.
• 5+ years of Python and SQL for data engineering (ETL/ELT).
• 3+ years with Azure infrastructure (Storage, SQL, Synapse, authentication, Managed Identities).
