Controller – Relocation Available

About the role

Gerdau is seeking a Controller to join its Selkirk steel facility. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial records, supporting cost‑reduction initiatives, and providing insightful analysis to drive operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Validate production and ending inventories for accuracy.
• Confirm proper usage of raw materials and other costs in division cost statements.
• Review financial statements with division management, explain variances, and ensure department managers understand results.
• Provide detailed monthly analysis against historical, forecast, or benchmark data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Compile data for business plans and quarterly forecasts.
• Assist with project (including capital) evaluations and calculate expected benefits.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure compliance with company policies, especially during the monthly close, inventory observations, and purchase approvals.
• Prepare analytic reports as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field (Master’s or CPA preferred).
• 5‑8 years of experience in cost and general accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Broad knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
• Strong leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
