About the role

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) serves as the strategic architect of the University’s digital ecosystem, providing vision, leadership, and operational oversight to advance technological capabilities across the institution.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a high‑performing team of IT specialists and assume executive accountability for cybersecurity and data privacy.
• Establish and mature a robust IT governance framework that aligns digital investments with the University’s educational and research missions.
• Partner with academic departments, senior leadership, and external vendors to drive a sustainable, long‑term IT portfolio.
• Champion modern technical architectures and emerging technologies that increase institutional agility while mitigating risk.
• Represent the University at provincial and national technology forums.

Required profile

• University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum ten years of progressive leadership experience in complex IT organizations.
• Advanced financial management skills overseeing multi‑million‑dollar budgets.
• Proven ability to lead through influence, negotiate high‑stakes contracts, and resolve complex organizational conflicts.
• Exceptional communication skills to translate technical concepts into business value for executive and Board‑level stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring high‑performing teams and fostering an inclusive, service‑oriented culture.
• Flexibility to travel as required.
