Canada Impact+ Research Chair – Environment, Climate Resilience & Arctic

About the role

Algoma University is seeking a distinguished scholar to lead the Canada Impact+ Research Chair focused on environment, climate resilience, Arctic studies, food and water security, and democratic community resilience. The nominee will head a high‑impact research program that bridges academic excellence with tangible societal benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a transformative research agenda aligned with Canada’s strategic priorities.
• Secure and manage Impact+ funding, including annual reporting and external reviews.
• Build and lead an interdisciplinary research team, mentoring graduate students and post‑doctoral fellows.
• Foster collaborations with government, Indigenous partners, industry, and international institutions.
• Translate research outcomes into policy recommendations, commercial applications, and community initiatives.

Required profile

• Established record of internationally recognized research in environmental science, climate resilience, Arctic studies, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to attract major research funding and manage large‑scale projects.
• Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including Indigenous communities and policy makers.
• Strong publication record in high‑impact journals.
