About the role
Algoma University is seeking a distinguished scholar to lead the Canada Impact+ Research Chair focused on environment, climate resilience, Arctic studies, food and water security, and democratic community resilience. The nominee will head a high‑impact research program that bridges academic excellence with tangible societal benefits.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute a transformative research agenda aligned with Canada’s strategic priorities.
- Secure and manage Impact+ funding, including annual reporting and external reviews.
- Build and lead an interdisciplinary research team, mentoring graduate students and post‑doctoral fellows.
- Foster collaborations with government, Indigenous partners, industry, and international institutions.
- Translate research outcomes into policy recommendations, commercial applications, and community initiatives.
Required profile
- Established record of internationally recognized research in environmental science, climate resilience, Arctic studies, or related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to attract major research funding and manage large‑scale projects.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including Indigenous communities and policy makers.
- Strong publication record in high‑impact journals.
Required skills
