Youth Program Instructor

About the role

The Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture Team is seeking a motivated Youth Program Instructor to deliver high‑quality training courses for children and teens. You will work directly with community members, helping them develop essential life‑skills while gaining valuable experience in a supportive municipal environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate courses such as Babysitting Training, Home Alone Training, Counsellor‑in‑Training, and Leader‑in‑Training.
• Present course material in an engaging manner that accommodates diverse learning styles.
• Record accurate attendance and complete all required paperwork after each session.
• Collaborate with the Recreation Programmer and Youth Centre staff to set up rooms and discuss program updates or concerns.
• Maintain a safe, organized learning environment and adhere to municipal policies.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years of experience instructing children or youth.
• Post‑secondary education in Recreation, Leisure, Education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong customer service, communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR‑C certification.
• Current High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development certification.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
• Successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
