Wellness Advisor

About the role

The Student Wellness Hub at McGill University seeks a Wellness Advisor to support student well‑being across campus. Working closely with faculty leadership and the Associate Director of Wellness, the advisor will design and deliver holistic wellness programs, provide early‑intervention guidance, and connect students with appropriate services.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between academic units, the Student Wellness Hub, and other student services.
• Identify health‑promotion and training needs for faculty and students.
• Deliver wellness workshops, support groups, and tailored training sessions.
• Consult with faculty and staff on awareness, prevention, early intervention, and mental‑health matters.
• Conduct initial screening and assessment for students presenting mental‑health concerns.
• Determine need for crisis intervention, initiate protocols, and make urgent or non‑urgent referrals.
• Maintain up‑to‑date information on campus and community support resources.
• Collaborate with referral sources to streamline student access to care.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of mental‑health concepts, counseling principles, and crisis management.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with faculty, staff, and external partners.
• Ability to assess student needs and direct them to appropriate services.
• Experience in developing and facilitating wellness programming.
