Weigh Room Technician

About the role

The Weigh Room Technician supports the Geochemistry laboratory by performing a variety of weighing and analytical techniques. This position works on a rotating schedule that includes days, overnights, and weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Execute weighing techniques such as Fire Assay, Acid Digests, Fusions, Leco, TIC, MMI, following SGS SOPs.
• Conduct simple bench tests including LOI, specific gravity, and moisture analysis.
• Perform calibration verification and set‑up equipment before analysis.
• Ensure paperwork and SLIMS data match physical samples; enter weights, verification data, and comments.
• Maintain equipment calibrations and perform routine maintenance under supervision.
• Keep the lab clean, clean labware as needed, and assist in training new technicians.
• Support other areas of the Geochemistry lab and coordinate special projects when required.

Required profile

• Minimum high school diploma; post‑secondary education in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is a strong asset.
• Previous laboratory experience is preferred.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
