About the role
The City of Guelph is seeking a Water Distribution Operator to join its Water Services Division. In this permanent, full‑time position you will operate and maintain the Class IV water distribution system, ensuring reliable service for the community while adhering to municipal policies and safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Operate the City’s Class IV water distribution system under the guidance of the Supervisor – Water Distribution.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on water infrastructure.
- Respond to service interruptions and emergencies promptly and safely.
- Follow all Water Services policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (OIT and Class certifications).
- Collaborate with fellow operators, lead hands, and distribution supervisors to meet compliance and health‑and‑safety objectives.
- Provide quality customer service and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- Experience in water distribution operation and maintenance.
- MOECC‑licensed Water Operator certification (or equivalent).
- Ability to work under supervision while demonstrating teamwork and safety awareness.

Required skills
- Water Distribution System operation.
