Truck Driver – Cross‑border & Specialized Freight

About the role

We are seeking a reliable truck driver to join a two‑person team or convoy for the transport of goods across provincial, regional and international routes. The role involves operating a variety of trucks, handling cargo safely, and ensuring compliance with all transport regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Arrange travel itineraries, make reservations and obtain required permits for cross‑border shipments.
• Drive lighter, special‑purpose trucks, flatbeds, refrigerated trucks and tractor‑trailers as part of a team.
• Load, unload and secure cargo, including dangerous goods, and perform tarping as needed.
• Conduct pre‑trip, en‑route and post‑trip inspections, adjusting brakes and performing emergency roadside repairs.
• Maintain vehicle condition by checking tires, lights, brakes, cold‑storage equipment and other systems.
• Record cargo details, hours of service, distance travelled, fuel consumption and relay information to central dispatch.
• Handle payment transactions for goods and ensure accurate documentation such as bills of lading.

Required profile

• Valid AZ class driver’s licence with Air‑Brakes endorsement.
• Class 1/1F/A licence for semi‑trailer trucks.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass criminal‑record and licence validity checks.
• Willingness to travel overnight and cross‑border.
• Physical ability to handle loads up to 23 kg (50 lb).

Required skills

• Operation of GPS navigation and on‑board trip recorder systems.
• Management of driver logbooks and inspection reports.
• Preparation and handling of Bill of Lading and other trans‑border documentation.
• Experience with flatbed, refrigerated and straight‑truck equipment.
• Use of communication systems for dispatch coordination.
