Trait Development Field Summer Associate (4‑6 month contract)

About the role

Join BASF Agricultural Solutions as a Trait Development Field Summer Associate in Saskatoon. You will support the advancement of new crop traits from seeding through harvest, working directly in the field to ensure trial integrity and data quality.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare trial sites: land preparation, seed set‑up and seeding.
• Manage field activities: pest control, pollination management, plot maintenance, and harvesting.
• Monitor compliance: enforce standard operating procedures and conduct scouting for prohibited species.
• Maintain trial isolation areas using techniques such as spraying, tilling, burning, hand roguing and mowing.
• Supervise casual employees when required.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Agriculture or a related field.
• Strong agronomic competence and experience in the agriculture industry.
• Demonstrated problem‑solving ability and flexibility to adapt plans.
• Interest in canola trait development.
• Willingness to travel on highways and grid roads for extended periods.
