Technician Operator – Terminal Operations

About the role

As a Technician Operator you will oversee contractors at our distribution terminals, ensuring safety and efficient product handling. You will be responsible for implementing Lockout‑Tag‑Out procedures, conducting gas detection, issuing work permits and supporting accurate product unloading and inventory management.

Key responsibilities

• Perform area inspections and enforce contractor safety standards, including LOTO and work permit issuance.
• Conduct gas detection to verify safe atmospheric conditions before work begins.
• Receive product, gauge tanks, reconcile inventory and assemble equipment to maintain accurate records and prevent environmental incidents.
• Execute quality control through sampling and testing of incoming product and inventory.
• Carry out preventative maintenance using checklists and operating procedures to maximise equipment life.
• Assist drivers and provide excellent customer service.
• Share knowledge with junior operators and contribute to safety hazard identification.

Required profile

• High School Diploma; community college or technical training is an asset.
• Minimum 2 years experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Understanding of Process Safety Management and active participation in safety programs.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
