About the role
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at McGill University seeks a Teaching Assistant for the Honours Partial Differential Equations course (MATH 475) for the Fall 2026 term. The TA will support student learning through tutorials, office hours, and assessment activities.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver weekly tutorial sessions, presenting prepared examples and facilitating student questions.
- Hold at least two regular office‑hour sessions per week to assist students individually or in groups.
- Mark tutorial assignments and maintain accurate grade records for the assigned tutorial group.
- Invigilate the midterm examination at the scheduled time.
- Participate in team marking of the midterm and final examinations under faculty supervision, ensuring final exams are never returned to students.
- Assist in preparing solution sheets and, when required, design and grade occasional surprise tests to encourage attendance.
Required profile
- Honours degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Applied Mathematics with high standing.
- Current graduate student at McGill University.
- For international candidates: a valid Canadian bank account, Social Insurance Number and study permit.
Required skills
What we offer
- Hourly salary of $37.34 CAD.
- 75 hours of work over the term (June – December 2026).
- Professional teaching experience in a university setting.
