Teaching Assistant – Honours Probability (MATH 356)

About the role

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at McGill University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the Honours Probability course (MATH 356) for the Fall 2026 term. The TA will support a tutorial group, delivering lectures, marking work, and assisting students throughout the semester.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct tutorial sessions, presenting prepared examples and facilitating student questions.
• Hold at least two regular office hours per week for individual or group assistance.
• Mark tutorial assignments, midterm, and final examinations under faculty supervision.
• Invigilate the midterm exam and ensure final exams are not returned to students.
• Maintain accurate grade records and coordinate marking processes.
• Assist in preparing solution sheets and occasional surprise tests.
• Manage the online course platform by responding to student posts.

Required profile

• Current McGill graduate student.
• Honours degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Applied Mathematics with high standing.
