Teacher on Call – K‑12 (Casual)

About the role

The Internal Teacher on Call (TOC) provides coverage for teacher absences across Kindergarten to Grade 12 at Meadowridge School. This casual position requires a qualified, flexible educator who can step into any classroom on short notice and maintain high‑quality instruction.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lesson plans supplied by the regular teacher, ensuring continuity of learning and student engagement.
• Take attendance, document daily notes, and prepare brief written reports for the covered teacher.
• Maintain classroom discipline, safety, and a positive learning environment in line with school policies.
• Supervise students during breaks, lunch, field trips, and co‑curricular activities as needed.
• Participate in staff, divisional, and IB programme meetings and contribute to committees or special projects.

Required profile

• BC Teacher Certification and a university degree with a teaching emphasis or completion of a teacher preparation program.
• Prior teaching experience at both elementary and secondary levels, preferably within an IB programme.
• Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
• Excellent organizational, administrative, and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
