Tax Manager

About the role

Spira Equity Partners is seeking a Tax Manager to lead Canadian and U.S. corporate and fund tax compliance. Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager and working closely with the Senior Vice President of Tax, you will play a hands‑on role in a fast‑moving private‑equity environment.

Key responsibilities

• Drive end‑to‑end Canadian and U.S. tax compliance, preparing and reviewing federal, state/provincial, and other corporate filings.
• Prepare and maintain complex year‑end tax working papers supporting both jurisdictions.
• Calculate and record periodic and year‑end tax provisions, journal entries, reconciliations, true‑up adjustments, and installment payments.
• Provide tax data for financial‑statement disclosures and respond to tax‑authority inquiries.
• Identify and implement process and technology improvements, leveraging AI and automation to streamline calculations and research.
• Research emerging tax issues, support advisory projects, and monitor legislative developments.
• Translate complex fund tax positions into clear answers for investor relations.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align tax processes with broader business operations.

Required profile

• CPA designation (required).
• Minimum of 4 years of Canadian, U.S., or cross‑border corporate tax experience.
• Experience in private‑equity, fund management, or real‑estate tax compliance is an asset.
• Previous experience at a Big Four firm is a plus.
