Sustainable Transportation Engineering Coordinator

About the role

The Sustainable Transportation Engineering Coordinator (EIT) leads the coordination and delivery of small‑to‑medium sustainable transportation projects on UBC’s 1,000‑acre campus. Reporting to the Manager, Transportation Engineering, the role supports UBC’s climate and mobility objectives through engineering design, data analysis and stakeholder collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Propose, plan and deliver sustainable transportation infrastructure projects such as bike lanes, micromobility stations, bus priority measures and wayfinding improvements.
• Manage project timelines, deliverables and risk mitigation while serving as the primary contact for internal and external partners.
• Collect, synthesize and analyze transportation data (traffic volumes, active‑transport counts, transit ridership) using tools like ArcGIS, AutoCAD and Tableau.
• Conduct site visits, field data collection and before/after evaluations to assess safety, accessibility and multimodal performance.
• Prepare funding applications, procurement scopes, permitting documentation and technical reports for internal and external audiences.

Required profile

• Registered Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) with a commitment to obtain P.Eng. designation.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with campus departments, student groups and external agencies.
• Experience managing small‑to‑medium engineering projects in a transportation or sustainability context.

Required skills

• AutoCAD for engineering design.
• Tableau for data visualization and reporting.
