Supervisor, Operations – Parks

About the role

The Town of Whitby is seeking a Supervisor, Operations – Parks to lead daily park operations and support the community’s growing needs. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operations – Parks, you will ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality services across all municipal parks.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, plan, and deliver day‑to‑day park operations, including winter maintenance and storm response.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance oversight to staff and contractors in the field.
• Develop and monitor long‑term resource plans, budgets, and strategic initiatives.
• Prepare reports, correspondence, and tender documentation while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and legislative requirements.
• Respond to resident inquiries, complaints, and on‑call emergencies, including after‑hours and winter events.

Required profile

• A diploma or degree in a parks‑related discipline.
• Minimum five years of parks maintenance or operations experience, with at least three years in a supervisory role.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and decision‑making abilities, preferably in a unionized environment.
• Knowledge of municipal legislation, budgeting, and project management.
• Valid Class G driver’s licence in good standing.
