Student Research Assistant

About the role

The Faculty of Engineering Dean’s Office at McGill University is hiring a Student Research Assistant to support the Integrating AI to Reshape Engineering Pedagogy project, funded through Entente Canada‑Quebec.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive literature review and environmental scans on best practices for integrating AI content into undergraduate engineering programs.
• Review McGill engineering programs with the research team to identify where AI literacy and applied AI knowledge should be embedded.
• Collaborate with instructors to create AI modules and projects for engineering courses.
• Support the development of learning outcomes, a course plan, and draft instructional content for a Fundamental AI in Engineering course.
• Contribute to conference presentations and academic articles.
• Participate in an AI in engineering education working group.
• Attend weekly 30‑minute team meetings.

Required profile

• Subject‑matter expertise acquired through undergraduate studies in various engineering programs at McGill.
• Active McGill student enrolled in an engineering program.

Required skills

• Knowledge or experience in engineering education.
• Experience with applied artificial intelligence or generative AI.
• Strong organization and time‑management abilities.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to interact with instructors.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools.
• Familiarity with web‑conferencing technology such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
