Student Recruitment Officer

About the role

The Faculty of Science at McGill University is seeking a Student Recruitment Officer to lead outreach and enrollment initiatives for the Departments of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, Earth and Planetary Sciences, and Geography. This two‑year term position works closely with the Associate Director of Organizational and Cultural Transformation and the Area Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute recruitment plans to increase student enrollment across the three departments.
• Participate in in‑person and virtual recruitment events throughout Quebec and Ontario, including open houses, school visits, and CEGEP outreach.
• Deliver engaging presentations in English and French to prospective students and their families, covering program details, admissions criteria, tuition, financial aid, and career pathways.
• Host visiting student groups, organize workshops, and create memorable campus experiences.
• Collaborate with Faculty of Science units and other McGill services to provide comprehensive recruitment support.
• Maintain regular contact with secondary schools and CEGEPs, promoting program updates and special events.
• Track contacts and activities in databases, monitoring yield statistics and outreach effectiveness.
• Plan logistics for recruitment events, coordinating student participation and on‑site demonstrations.

Required profile

• Passion for science communication and higher‑education outreach.
• Strong bilingual ability to present fluently in English and French.
• Willingness to travel within Quebec and Ontario for recruitment activities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for building relationships with schools, students, and internal units.
