Student Library Assistant – Shelving & Collection Support

About the role
The County of Lambton is seeking a motivated student to join its Regional Library team. This part‑time role involves shelving and organizing library collections across several community branches, providing essential support to Cultural Services staff.
Key responsibilities
- Shelve books and other materials in the correct order using the Dewey Decimal system.
- Maintain tidy and organized shelves throughout the library.
- Assist with locating items to fulfill staff and patron requests.
- Help process new collections and support program preparation or delivery when needed.
- Participate in general organization of library materials.
Required profile
- Currently enrolled in a high school or post‑secondary program, or participating in an employment initiative for individuals with disabilities.
- Physical ability to perform shelving, lifting, and other duties as described.
- Reliability and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Required skills
- Basic understanding of library classification systems (e.g., Dewey Decimal).
What we offer
- Hourly wage of $16.60‑$17.60.
- Flexible schedule – 6 hours per week.
- Experience working in a public service environment.
