Stage Hand – Work‑Study Position

About the role

This part‑time, work‑study position supports the stage management team at McGill University’s concert venues. The role is ideal for a student interested in gaining hands‑on experience in live‑event production while balancing academic commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the stage management team with technical preparation of venues for concerts and events.
• Move chairs, stands, and stage components according to the event layout.
• Place and connect audio‑visual equipment as directed by senior crew members.
• Maintain a vigilant and approachable presence throughout each performance.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of related experience or relevant coursework.
• Basic knowledge of classical music and ability to work evenings, nights and weekends.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English; basic spoken French is an asset.

Required skills

• Familiarity with audio/video equipment and related software.
