Sr. Director Global Process Engineering

About the role

Veolia's Water Technologies (Water Tech) is seeking a Sr. Director to lead a small team of senior and principal process engineers. The role works closely with the Global Process Engineering Director and other subject matter experts to set strategy, suggest creative designs, review designs for new projects and give technical guidance to business units globally on complex water and wastewater treatment systems. It is a working manager position based in Oakville.

Key responsibilities

• Motivate and guide regional process engineers to develop environmentally friendly, high-quality designs and solutions.
• Lead discussions with customers' technical experts, external EPCs and consultants, and own the process to agree on a path forward while mitigating risk.
• Own integrated process design reviews, document observations with action items and mitigation plans, and seek final approvals from the GPE Director and the BS&P Paris office.
• Develop and update process design guidelines and train process engineers globally.
• Analyze, review and advise on project, pilot and product data, approve technical recommendations and contribute to conference papers and presentations.
• Coach, mentor and train teams, and share lessons learned across process engineering functions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Process Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline; Master's preferred.
• Minimum 20 years of engineering experience in the water and wastewater reuse industry, including at least 15 years of dedicated expertise.
• Fluent in written and spoken English; willing to travel internationally and locally up to 15-30%.
• Preferred: PhD in physical chemistry, UF, NF, RO, IX, MLD/ZLD, EDI or thermal technologies, and complex flow-sheet design experience.

Required skills

• Water chemistry and high-recovery membrane-based systems.
• Integrated complex flow sheets with multiple unit operations.
• Knowledge of third-party and vendor competitive technologies and simulation software.
• QA/QC expertise on projects under execution.
• Leadership, mentoring and training, and strong written and oral communication.
