Project Engineer - Water & Wastewater

About the role

Veolia's Water Technology Business is hiring a Project Engineer (PE) in Oakville to work with the Purification & Disinfection (P&D) and ZeeWeed ITR teams. The PE executes custom project designs, meets customer expectations, quality, schedule and budget goals, mitigates project risks and leads a project support team through delegation and coordination of engineering deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design of water and wastewater treatment systems and coordinate design of orders for the ZeeWeed ITR teams, supporting sales and commercial engineering on UF membrane replacement opportunities.
• Size equipment, generate technical specifications and evaluate bids for pumps, blowers, compressors, ozone and UV systems, vessels, filters, piping and valves.
• Review engineering drawings and documents so that designs, bills of material and technical data are complete and accurate.
• Coordinate process and mechanical design reviews and resolve scheduling and technical issues during design, construction and start-up.
• Delegate and support junior engineers and internal contractors, and interface with the project manager and customer on project and problem resolution.
• Meet QMS requirements for project execution and documentation, and act as a resource for the Applications and Project Management teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or another related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of engineering experience, including project engineering.
• Ability to read P&IDs and PFDs (including material balances).
• Ability to travel 10% to 20% of the time.

Required skills

• Desired: process design experience with water and wastewater treatment systems, and experience in the UF/MBR domain.
• Hydraulic design, including head and NPSH calculations for pump sizing.
• SAP system experience.
• Good technical writing and oral communication skills.
