Sous Chef - Italian Restaurant

About the role

Parcheggio, an Italian restaurant celebrating handmade pasta, authentic pizza and a salumi program, is looking for a Sous Chef in Toronto. The role suits seasoned culinary professionals who thrive in fast-paced kitchens, can lead under pressure and enjoy mentoring others.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee kitchen operations and keep the kitchen clean and well organized
• Communicate with teams about upcoming menus, features and events, and manage orders and inventory
• Coach, train and develop cooks and co-op students
• Take part in à la carte service and special events
• Promote the restaurant and solve problems and conflicts to keep a positive kitchen culture

Required profile

• 2-3 years of cooking experience in a fast-paced restaurant
• Passion for Italian cuisine and traditional techniques; experience with handmade pasta, pizza and charcuterie is an asset
• Culinary diploma or degree is an asset
• Ability to stand for long periods (up to 100% of the shift)
• Full availability, including evenings, weekends and holidays

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of professional cooking methods and knife skills
• Ordering and inventory management
