Solids Control Field Technician (Remote, Canada)

About the role
Stage 3 is seeking a Solids Control Field Technician to support mud‑system operations across Canada. The position is remote‑based with frequent travel to project sites, offering on‑the‑job training on specialized solids‑control equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Work 12‑hour rotational shifts (14 days on, 7 days off) and be available for overtime as needed.
- Travel to remote locations throughout Canada to install, operate, and maintain solids‑control equipment.
- Rig up and rig down shaker tanks, centrifuges, drying equipment, and pumps.
- Perform fluid analysis including fluid weight, viscosity, and retort testing.
- Execute solids‑control services such as air drilling, barite recovery, de‑watering, floc water handling, fluid transfers, and cuttings drying.
- Carry out routine mechanical and basic electrical maintenance on equipment.
- Maintain a clean work environment using pressure‑washing equipment and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Complete daily PJRA/JSA, inspection reports, observation reports, and checklists.
Required profile
- Willingness to work 12‑hour swing shifts on a 14‑day on/7‑day off schedule.
- Ability to travel domestically to remote sites across Canada.
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to follow PPE and safety procedures.
- Eagerness to learn rigging, equipment operation, and basic electrical principles.
Required skills
- Operation of shaker tanks, centrifuges, drying equipment and pumps.
- Basic electrical knowledge for equipment maintenance.
- Drilling fluid analysis (fluid weight, viscosity, retort analysis).
- Experience with air drilling, barite recovery, de‑watering, floc water handling, fluid transfers, and cuttings drying.
- Routine mechanical maintenance of solids‑control equipment.
- Heavy machinery operation under supervision.
- Use of pressure‑washing equipment for site cleanliness.
