Software Development Engineer

About the role

CommerceIQ is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join its Toronto team. You will work hands‑on with senior engineers, product managers, and data scientists to build AI‑powered commerce solutions that serve Fortune 100 brands.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate across functions to develop features for a variety of use‑cases.
• Partner with executives to understand strategic priorities and translate them into technical solutions.
• Participate in design reviews, write high‑quality code, and follow best practices for testing, security, and scalability.
• Ship features that are quickly adopted by customers and improve their e‑commerce performance.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of hands‑on software engineering experience (internships and co‑ops are considered).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from a highly ranked university.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, eagerness to learn, and comfort working in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Java or Python.
• Experience with AI tools such as Claude.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Understanding of microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of modern development practices like CI/CD.
