Software Development Engineer – Employee Listening

About the role

As a Software Development Engineer you will own critical components of Amazon's employee listening platform, building innovative technology at Amazon scale. You will collaborate with technical leaders to deliver high‑impact, data‑driven solutions that help shape the workplace experience for Amazonians.

Key responsibilities

• Drive architectural and design decisions for distributed services.
• Invent and implement new features for a scalable employee listening product.
• Write high‑quality, efficient, testable code and ensure system reliability.
• Build highly available, secure systems using AWS services.
• Own and operate the services you develop, participating in planning, design, testing, release, and operations.
• Collaborate with a talented engineering team and leverage AI tooling to improve productivity.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
• 2+ years of experience designing or architecting reliable, scalable systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Full software development life‑cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• 2+ years working with big‑data technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, Lucene/SOLR, or Storm/Samza.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one software programming language.
• Experience with AWS services: Glue, Athena, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB.
• Knowledge of big‑data frameworks: Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, Lucene/SOLR, Storm/Samza.
