Software Developer Student (Co‑op)

About the role

PCL is seeking a motivated Software Developer Student for an 8‑to‑12‑month co‑op in Edmonton, starting September 8, 2026. You will work on real‑world web and desktop applications that support construction crews and staff, gaining hands‑on experience in a supportive, growth‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Write clean, scalable, performant, and secure web applications.
• Collaborate with the team to design and implement new features.
• Create and execute unit tests.
• Participate in proof‑of‑concepts and research emerging technologies.
• Design and develop in‑house software systems (desktop and web).
• Optimize UX/UI for visualizing large data sets.
• Support machine‑learning objectives by capturing necessary parameters.
• Integrate enterprise systems and automate workflows through scripting.
• Enhance data access and integrity for end‑users.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Strong passion for learning and applying new technologies.
• Familiarity with agile software development practices.
• Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills.
• Previous exposure to ERP environments is a plus.
