Shop QA/QC Inspector

About the role

Black & McDonald’s Saskatchewan team is seeking a dedicated QA/QC Inspector to ensure the highest standards of quality in a fast‑paced pipe fabrication and CWB‑certified welding shop. Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, you will implement and monitor quality programs, conduct inspections, and verify compliance with CSA, ASME and CWB standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee quality assurance and control for pipe fabrication and structural welding in accordance with CWB (CSA W47.1/W59) and ASME B31.1/B31.3.
• Review and interpret welding procedures, isometric drawings and fabrication standards.
• Monitor welding processes, welder qualifications and procedure adherence.
• Conduct fit‑up, in‑process and final inspections of welded pipe spools and structural components.
• Identify non‑conforming items, document them and manage corrective action plans.
• Maintain inspection and test records, weld maps and traceability documentation.
• Liaise with third‑party inspectors, clients and regulatory bodies for code and contract compliance.
• Verify calibration of measurement and testing equipment and support material receiving inspections.
• Participate in internal and external audits, NCR investigations and root‑cause analysis.

Required profile

• Active registration with the Canadian Welding Bureau as a Welding Inspector (CSA Standard W178.2‑18).
• Valid CWB W59 Inspector Level I certification.
• Entry‑level to 3 years experience in a workshop environment.
• Working knowledge of CSA W47.1, CSA W59 and basic NDT processes.
• Ability to interpret isometric drawings, welding symbols and identify weld faults.
