Shift Lead – Retail Store Operations

About the role

The Shift Lead will oversee store operations during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth workflow, excellent customer service, and achievement of sales targets. This full‑time position is based at the Barrhaven location in Ottawa and requires flexibility for evenings and weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a team of retail associates, providing guidance, coaching and support on assigned shifts.
• Assign tasks and delegate responsibilities effectively to maintain seamless store operations.
• Deliver exceptional customer service, greeting every customer warmly and resolving inquiries promptly.
• Motivate the team to meet and exceed sales targets through effective sales techniques and product knowledge.
• Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and visual merchandising standards.
• Execute opening and closing procedures and manage inventory activities such as receiving, stocking and replenishing merchandise.
• Handle customer exchanges and returns to ensure a hassle‑free experience.
• Follow company policies, loss‑prevention guidelines and operational procedures to protect profitability.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years customer‑service experience.
• Proficiency with point‑of‑sale (POS) systems and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Strong interpersonal, communication, decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lb, climb ladders, stand for long periods and move comfortably.
• Reliability and flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends and weekdays.
