Shift Engineer, Parental Leave Contract (Oct 2026 - Feb 2027)

About the role

Fairmont Waterfront, an Accor hotel on Vancouver's waterfront, is hiring a full-time Shift Engineer for a parental leave contract from October 2026 to February 2027. The role covers service and repair duties in guestrooms, public areas and the heart of house, with a focus on guest service, health and safety and preventive maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Offer professional, engaging and friendly service to guests
• Maintain a safe work environment, inspecting all areas of the property and taking immediate corrective action
• Perform service and repair duties in guestrooms, public areas and the heart of house
• Carry out minor equipment repairs, HVAC servicing and filter changes
• Caulk washrooms and bathrooms, repair and replace bathroom fixtures, and carry out minor plumbing
• Test and chemically balance the swimming pool daily when assigned
• Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on facilities and equipment, and run daily system checks when assigned
• Assist guests with hotel equipment such as TVs
• Take part in the environmental program and other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Previous maintenance experience in painting, plumbing, tiling and carpentry on a large commercial building or similar is preferred
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities, highly responsible and reliable, able to work safely with minimal supervision and to prioritize tasks
• Excellent guest service skills, attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
• Team-oriented, with good communication skills and a good command of English
• Available to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, overnight, weekends, overtime and holidays
• Canadian work authorization
