About the role

The Department of Wood Science at the Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship seeks a sessional lecturer to teach WOOD 330, an Industrial Engineering course for third‑year Wood Products Processing students. The role involves delivering two weekly lectures and a two‑hour lab, preparing all course materials, and assessing student work.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver two 50‑minute lectures per week.
  • Conduct a two‑hour laboratory session each week.
  • Develop course notes, slides, assignments, quizzes, case studies, mid‑term and final exams.
  • Supervise and mentor teaching assistant(s).
  • Provide timely feedback and maintain accurate grade records.
  • Be available to students outside class hours for questions.

Required profile

  • PhD (or qualified PhD candidate) in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, or a related field.
  • Post‑doctoral fellows or research staff with a PhD are also eligible.
  • Demonstrated teaching or TA experience.
  • Familiarity with the Canvas learning platform.
  • Knowledge of the wood industry, forest products supply chain, and programming.
