Sessional Lecturer – Quantitative Analysis of Social Data

About the role
The University of Toronto is seeking a sessional lecturer to teach SOC222H5F – Quantitative Analysis of Social Data. The appointment runs from September 1 to December 31, 2026, with lectures scheduled on Tuesdays from 9 am to 11 am.
Key responsibilities
- Design, prepare and deliver lecture content for a university‑level sociology course.
- Develop, administer and grade assignments, tests and examinations.
- Calculate and submit final grades in accordance with university policies.
- Hold regular office hours to support student learning.
- Supervise teaching assistants assigned to the course.
- Order and manage required reading materials.
Required profile
- PhD in Sociology or an equivalent discipline, demonstrated by refereed or published research.
- Strong academic record and prior experience teaching a comparable quantitative sociology course.
- Evidence of teaching excellence in the subject matter.

What we offer
- Minimum stipend of CAD 9,997.48 for the half‑course appointment (inclusive of vacation pay).
