Sessional Lecturer – Introduction to Management of Urban Innovation

About the role

The Institute for Management and Innovation at the University of Toronto Mississauga is seeking a qualified Sessional Lecturer to teach MUI1010H – Introduction to Management of Urban Innovation during the Fall 2026 term. The appointment runs from early September to late December and involves delivering weekly lectures and supporting student project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver weekly 3‑hour lectures covering urban innovation literature and its strategic, economic, and governance implications.
• Guide student teams through assignments, provide feedback, and hold regular office hours.
• Design, populate, and maintain the Quercus course shell, including syllabus, readings, and assessment criteria.
• Record attendance, evaluate assignments, submit grades, and communicate course information to students.
• Collaborate with the Program Director to align course content with the Master of Urban Innovation curriculum.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in geography, planning, political science, or a related discipline, or an MBA with relevant industry experience.
• Demonstrated ability to teach graduate‑level courses on urban innovation or related subjects.
• Eligibility to work in Canada and not be a current University of Toronto student.

Required skills

• Strong academic writing and presentation abilities.
• Experience with university learning management systems (e.g., Quercus).

• Compensation of at least $9,997.47 for the half‑course appointment, in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 agreement (includes vacation pay).
