Sessional Lecturer – Introduction to Community Music

About the role
The Department of Arts, Culture and Media at the University of Toronto Scarborough is seeking a Sessional Lecturer to teach Introduction to Community Music (MUZB01H3F) in the Fall 2026 term. This in‑person course explores how music functions within communities, blurring traditional boundaries between amateur and professional practice.
Key responsibilities
- Design, prepare, and deliver weekly lecture sessions (Monday 11 am–1 pm) for a 300‑student enrolment.
- Develop, administer, and grade assignments and final portfolios.
- Calculate final grades and submit them by the end of the term, with any remaining grading completed by December 31, 2026.
- Maintain course records and adhere to university policies on grading and academic integrity.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in community music practice or research.
- Ability to teach university‑level credit courses and engage a large, diverse student body.
- Strong organizational skills for course planning, assessment, and record‑keeping.
