Service Plumber (Commercial & Industrial)

About the role

Black & McDonald Limited is looking for an experienced Service Plumber to join its commercial and industrial service team in Winnipeg. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing and gas systems in occupied facilities while delivering excellent customer service and adhering to safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to service calls for commercial and industrial plumbing and gas systems.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain domestic water, sanitary, storm, and process piping.
• Service, repair, and troubleshoot gas‑fired equipment such as boilers, unit heaters, and hot water tanks.
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, testing, and system evaluations.
• Identify deficiencies, recommend repairs or improvements, and provide accurate repair scopes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Plumbing Code, Gas Code, and safety regulations.
• Complete work orders, service reports, and digital documentation accurately.
• Coordinate with customers, facility managers, internal teams, and other trades.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle safely and professionally.

Required profile

• Journeyperson Plumber certification (Red Seal or Manitoba equivalent).
• 3–5+ years of experience in commercial/industrial service plumbing and gas work.
• Strong troubleshooting ability and capacity to work independently.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean record.
• Physically capable of lifting, climbing, confined‑space work, and working in mechanical rooms.
