Senior Software Engineer II, Kora Compute

About the role

We are a team of passionate engineers who love solving complex distributed systems and infrastructure problems. We are building Kora from the ground up to be a true managed service for clients who demand high availability, performance, and low cost of ownership. In this role you will work on building a highly available, reliable, secure, scalable, and multi‑tenant compute layer for Kora.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver complex projects in production with a focus on quality.
• Make customers more successful by tackling their most challenging problems.
• Identify root causes, dig deep, and solve hard technical issues.

Required profile

• BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of cloud infrastructure or cloud networking experience.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development.
• Experience building and operating large‑scale systems in the Cloud.
• Solid understanding of basic systems operations (disk, network, OS, etc.).
• Self‑starter able to work effectively in teams.
• Proficiency in Java, Scala, C/C++, Go or other statically typed languages.

Required skills

• In‑depth familiarity with the JVM.
• Background in distributed storage systems or databases.
• Experience in resource management and QoS.
• Knowledge of public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Interest in evangelism (tech talks, blog posts about Kafka).
• Experience working on databases or data storage.
