Senior Project Architect

About the role

The Senior Project Architect will lead the technical design and documentation of projects, ensuring the highest standards of quality, performance and sustainability while meeting client expectations and firm goals.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate technical solutions with design vision and project goals.
• Direct development of complete, coordinated contract documents.
• Mentor the project team on construction drawings, constructability and detailing.
• Lead resolution of technical design issues, including envelope and systems integration.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external consultants, integrating their systems into the documentation.
• Maintain firm standards for accuracy, clarity, coordination and constructability.
• Lead QA and QC processes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage contract administration tasks such as submittals, RFIs, change orders and project close‑out.
• Conduct architectural field observations, reporting and ensuring construction aligns with contract documents and design intent.

Required profile

• 10–15+ years of architecture experience, including construction site work in Alberta.
• Professional degree in Architecture or Diploma in Architectural/Building Technology.
• Advanced knowledge of the National Building Code – Alberta Edition.
• Demonstrated expertise in construction techniques, detailing and systems.
• Strong background in contract documentation and administration.
• Professional field observation experience.
• LEED Green Associate certification within 6 months; LEED AP or equivalent sustainability certification preferred.
