Senior Prep Cook - Catering

About the role

Oliver & Bonacini, a Canadian hospitality group, is hiring a full-time Senior Prep Cook for its catering operations in Toronto. The role suits cooks with considerable experience in fine dining kitchens who are organized, can work independently and handle high-pressure environments.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and organize your station according to O&B standards, following recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications
• Maintain a prep list of station duties and follow the FIFO method to keep food fresh
• Take direction, feedback and coaching from the Sous Chef, Chef and/or General Manager
• Assist with receiving and storing delivered items and help troubleshoot problems
• Keep food prep areas, equipment and utensils clean and follow sanitation, food safety and hygiene guidelines
• Follow WHMIS and MSDS guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• 2-3 years of cooking experience in a fast-paced, high-volume event or restaurant environment
• Culinary diploma or degree is an asset
• Physically able to stand for the entire shift
• Available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
• Legally eligible to work in Canada

Required skills

• Strong understanding of professional cooking techniques and knife handling
• Ability to take direction, work efficiently and stay calm under pressure
• Food Handler certification is a plus
