Senior Manager, Platform Engineering

About the role

Rates.ca is scaling a multi‑platform, regulated digital ecosystem across insurance, money and content. The Senior Manager, Platform Engineering will lead the platform and cloud engineering function to deliver secure, reliable, cost‑efficient and AI‑ready platforms that accelerate product delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve platform‑as‑a‑product strategy, roadmaps and success metrics.
• Standardize CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure‑as‑Code, logging, monitoring and alerting across all product teams.
• Own cloud architecture and standards on AWS (including serverless and managed services) and legacy workloads on Akamai and Linode.
• Manage Cloudflare services such as CDN, edge workers, DNS, SSL/TLS, traffic routing, WAF, bot management, rate limiting, and DDoS protection.
• Reduce developer friction by eliminating bespoke setups and manual processes.
• Embed security, compliance and FinOps guardrails into platform design.
• Drive reliability, cost‑awareness and operational excellence through automation and incident prevention.
• Enable AI‑augmented tooling for CI/CD diagnostics, test generation, infrastructure drift detection and root‑cause analysis.
