Senior Communications Specialist – Training & Digital Systems

About the role

The Senior Communications Specialist will design, develop, and maintain learning materials that enable effective use of the Digital Regulatory Assurance System (DRAS) for Environment and Protected Areas staff. This hybrid position combines remote work with occasional on‑site meetings in Edmonton.

Key responsibilities

• Create and update clear, practical learning assets such as job aids, guides, presentations, and scenario‑based resources for DRAS.
• Collaborate with subject‑matter experts, system leads, and business units to ensure training content aligns with system functionality and regulatory processes.
• Identify performance gaps through feedback and data, recommending targeted training interventions.
• Design and deliver formal virtual training sessions, including outlines, slide decks, exercises, and supporting materials.

Required profile

• Bachelor degree or diploma in business, communications, adult education, or related field, plus three additional years of relevant experience.
• Minimum five years of experience creating user training materials, technical documentation, and platform support resources.
• Five years of experience delivering training via web‑based interactive technology (e.g., Microsoft Teams).
• Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives with strict timelines.
• Additional experience in communications, change‑management deliverables, stakeholder analysis, and feedback analytics is advantageous.
